This was a remodel of a one story ranch located in Bloomington, Indiana. In this project I was given quite a bit of freedom in that I could choose my client. The client that I chose was a couple in their mid 60s looking to retire soon. They collect Arts and Crafts Movement antiques and furniture and wanted a open concept floorplan. The clients requirements were master and guest bedroom, sewing room and library. I really enjoyed researching the Craftsman style and designing a more modern version of this style. The only project requirement was that we could not demolish the existing exterior walls or the load bearing wall adjacent to living room.
I jointly took a class on lighting and developed a lighting plan (HERE). All modeling and rendering was done in Revit.
RESIDENTIAL RENOVATION
Kitchen and DiningThis is an open concept living space. It incorporates Kichler lighting. The dining table and chairs are Stickley. The side chair in the living room area is a William Morris for Stickley. The china cabinet is custom designed by me. | Living SpaceI again used Stickley furniture to create a cohesive space throughout. The fireplace creates a focal point for the room and provides a place to showcase the client's antique pottery. | LibraryThe clients wanted separate spaces adjacent to each other. One of the spaces was a library and the other a sewing room. In the library there is a large custom window to provide lots of light. In the corner is a Frank Lloyd Wright globe. |

FloorplanThey wanted an open plan living space. It was important that the sewing room be adjacent to the library and have plenty of light for their house plants. Only one guest bedroom was needed being that that it is just them in the house. |
